FACULTY: Scholarship has become a significant priority for RIT faculty. New aspects of research and teaching are a larger part of faculty's yearly plans of work. The Library has created an institutional repository using DSpace software to preserve and maintain RIT's scholarship in perpetuity. All materials must be peer-reviewed. The peer review continuum encompasses a range such as faculty to faculty, faculty to student to a journal editor reviewing an article. Examples of materials included in the archive are preprints, post-prints, monographs, conference proceedings / presentations, reports / documentation, working papers, images, photos, and respective supporting data. Archive, showcase, and share your scholarship using this venue.

Why should I post and share my scholarly work in the RIT DML?

  • RIT Faculty and student research can be located by using an easily searchable interface.
  • Authors can showcase their work by emailing the item's unique identifier url to colleagues, peers, and current or prospective employers.
  • Asserts copyright ownership.
  • Theses available online or deposited in institutional repositories are cited more frequently (336%) and hence, are more visible, accessible, and have greater scholarly impact.
  • Allows authors to freely and perpetually link to their research output (the DML is committed to maintaining the archive in perpetuity).
  • Examples of students' work can be used by other students in preparation for writing their own theses/projects/dissertations.

STUDENTS: Student theses, graduate projects and doctoral dissertations are an under-utilized but significant source of primary research. The Library wants to maximize public open access to these important resources.
